Today I fucking hate everyone and everything…and yes I do mean hate. And as everyone who has come across me today has had me having a go at them, crying in front of them, or ignoring them, I’m going to avoid Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook until I am more cheerful.
And would like to tell me if it’s worth watching before it closes in September? :’(
The musical is very different to the film - same songs, same characters and what have you, but the film had the effects that the stage couldn’t, it also had the ‘big’ names, and the crap that was Renee Zellweger! A lot of people have criticised the stage show if they have seen the film first, HOWEVER, I think that’s completely wrong. The stage show is the original, it’s the way it was intended and it was here first!
Personally, I’ve seen the show 17 times, and can tell you it is absolutely worth seeing it before it closes in September. I saw it 8 times between Spring 2010 and Winter 2011 alone, when the cast was at its best. The cast will finish with (I assume) Rachel Mcdowell who was one of the friends of Sophie in the Mamma Mia film, as Velma. She’s played the role before and is apparently very good, and Sarah Soetaert as Roxie - I’ve seen her quite a few times and she is by far my favourite Roxie - I even prefer her portrayal of the character to Ruthie’s (London’s original Roxie) and that’s really saying something. Brilliant voice, brilliant dancer - theatrically trained, rather than one of the crap celebrities they often get in. Olympian Robin Cousins is playing Billy Flynn, no idea what he’s like, and Jasna Ivir is playing Mamma Morton - she’s utterly fantastic.
The cast works stupidly hard on this show - non-stop dancing that is ridiculously technical, as well as singing, and understudying numerous roles - and put on great performances. There are some songs that aren’t in the film that should be, and they’re brilliant parts of the show, Velma’s entrance for All That Jazz is great, and the Overture builds the excitement. Cell Block Tango is fantastically done, but it doesn’t have all the dancing, the prison bars or the red scarfs the film does. The show is funny, fast, moving in places, a bit sinister, with an amazing score. My favourite show.
Don’t go if you’re expecting the film, you’ll be disappointed. But otherwise, get your tickets!!!
Found out today that my cat has to have surgery to remove a lump from her paw. She’s had bloods taken to see if her organs are strong enough to survive it (she’s 16) and if not, the vet says the only other option is to put her to sleep.
So, after about half an hour of silence in the car after being told, and sat on the floor of the bathroom crying for twenty minutes, I’ve decided that I’m not just letting them put her to sleep if she won’t survive the operation.
She’s not in pain. When she’s in pain, then it’s time to go.
But the vet looked at the lump, pressed it and said “She’s not in any pain when I press it at all” and followed it with “if she can’t survive the operation she needs to be put to sleep because she’s in pain.”
So which is it, vet the almighty? Is she in pain or not? Because she’s not limping, she’s not crying, she has energy for a sixteen year old and she’s still eating.
Fuck you, she’s been mine since I was six. You don’t just get to choose.
I’m totally cool with everyone doing whatever they want and stuff, but oh my actual, STOP BLOGGING ABOUT WEED! Seriously. Just, what? I can’t even. I lose a little bit of respect every time someone posts pictures of joints, or describes themselves as a stoner in their info.
I have developed an incredibly strong hatred of Anna Meares. Like honestly, I want to kill her. After she purposely elbowed Victoria slightly off balance and out of the sprint line so that she was relegated in the first sprint race I strongly disliked her, I don’t care if Victoria was very…
Good to see I’m not the only one with a completely irrational hate for Anna Meares the size of the sodding universe. I too have noticed Meares appearing on every single sodding montage, crying over her gold - I hope some of those tears are because she knows deep down that she got that medal through cheating, and that every single person in the UK knows that she did too. I’m glad to read in interviews that Victoria is sticking to her guns and maintains that she thinks Meares did it deliberately. I know it just goes to show what an amazing athlete Victoria is if the only way Meares could beat her was to elbow her, but that’s not the god damn point! And to elbow anyone at that speed, be it Victoria or another cyclist, when they’re travelling at that speed is pretty damn dangerous! Laura was saying herself how she fell once and smashed her face up. I sincerely hope that Laura brings Meares down several pegs in Rio, and if she gets her own back by a little nudge on the tracks then so be it.
